Club Characteristics

Jämtlands Motor Club (JMK), is one Sweden's oldest motoring organization. The organization was founded in 1924, at the beginning of automotive history. The original motive behind forming JMK was the need for an organization to lobby for the interests of motorists, a reason which is now more important than ever. In 1925 we arranged our first competition, a hillclimbing, which had 25 competitors.

Today we arrange about 15-20 events every year in Rally, Rallycross, Folkrace (a sort of very cheap Rallycross), Karting and R/C-Racing.

Joining JMK means helping to develop a motoring club with a great history. People living in Sweden and Jämtland who are interested in motoring will find a club full of enthusiasm and a welcoming atmosphere. We are a welknown organizer of specially Rallycompetitions, one of the most famous is “Jämtrallyt” (1961 – 1981).

In 1981 we started to build our own motorsportarena, Östersunds Motorstadion, which today has arenas for all motorsports, besides Rally. In 2003 we could take the new arena for Karting in use, one of the best in Sweden, we say!
